Burn Out

Chapter 1

I’m not here to sugarcoat things. Building a brand at 24 was exhilarating and validating, but it became a weight I didn’t expect. Dear Little Me is where I share the moments that shaped me, the lessons that stung, and the hard truths of being a founder.

You can expect some chaos and a whole lot of heart as I figure it out.

My hope? That this newsletter reminds “the little me” who was told to shrink herself: trust your gut, take the risks, and don’t stay down too long.

What to expect weekly from Dear Little Me:

🔥 Raw, unfiltered truths about life as a founder
⚡️ Weekly insights into the realities of entrepreneurship
⭐️ Behind-the-scenes insights from BootayBag and beyond
🎯 Hot tips on business, wellness, and personal growth

The Great Escape From BootayBag.

Whether you found me through BootayBag or Shark Tank, thank you. Every like, comment, or small gesture never went unnoticed. But I know you have questions, so here’s the truth: I’m still figuring it out.

At 24, I struggled to separate the brand’s success from my self-worth. The brand was me. But after years of highs and lows, I finally started to realize—BootayBag wasn’t who I was, it was what I built. That shift has been everything.

Here’s the real takeaway: Success isn’t just about the grind or the numbers. For me, success is waking up excited for tomorrow and surrounding myself with people and projects that spark joy. When I realized the hustle wasn’t filling me anymore, I knew it was time to step back.

But here’s the tea—I’m not done. I still love building brands, solving problems, and connecting with women who are trying to figure it all out. And this newsletter? It’s me putting it all out there—my wins, my challenges, and everything I’ve learned.

Personal Takeaway of the Week:

Lately, I’ve been noticing avoidant behavior in myself—pushing things off, feeling irritated, or fatigued in my body. I’ve been short and easily irritated, and it hit me: these are all signs of burnout. It’s my body’s way of telling me to slow down, reflect, and reset. If you’re feeling this too, remember, it’s okay to pause and reevaluate.

My Energy Check-In: Fighting Burnout

  • Explore My Routine
I’m not aiming to overhaul my entire routine at once, but I’m setting one small, micro habit a week that boosts my well-being. It could be as simple as a morning stretch or unplugging for an hour each day. The goal is to slowly add habits that make me feel good and grounded.

  • Calendar Reflection
I’m doing what I call an “Energizer Audit.” I’m reviewing the past two weeks of my calendar and noting what energized me vs. what drained me. Going forward, I’ll make decisions about future commitments based on those insights, ensuring I balance the draining moments with activities that refill my tank.

  • Say No
I’m creating “No Days” on my calendar—days where I commit to not accepting any new meetings or responsibilities. It’s a way to protect my peace and recharge. I’m also practicing saying no gracefully, offering alternative solutions when I can, or simply being honest when I need space to breathe.

Weekly Hot List

Anything AI

  • MadgicX: This tool helps me run ads and develop creative strategies using AI. It takes the guesswork out of ad targeting and performance, making it easier for me to optimize campaigns. If you’re new to ad strategy or just want to simplify the process, this is a game-changer.

  • Relume: Building a website can feel intimidating, but Relume lets you create beautiful websites just by typing. No coding needed. It’s great for those who want to focus on the look and feel without worrying about the backend.

Better Sleep
I’ve realized sleep is the foundation for feeling good and performing well. Here’s how I’m improving my sleep quality:

  • Lavender Heated Eye Mask: The lavender scent and gentle warmth help me relax before bed. It’s like giving your face a spa treatment while you unwind.

  • Red Light Therapy Mask: Red light therapy supports your body’s natural sleep cycle by blocking blue light and promoting melatonin production. I use it before bed to wind down naturally.

  • Red Lights or Candles Only: Switching out harsh white lights for soft, red lights or candles helps my brain understand it’s time to relax. An hour before bed, I switch off bright lights to signal it’s time to sleep.

  • Put Away the Phone: I’ve started keeping my phone out of arm’s reach at least an hour before bed. EMF waves or not, staring at a screen is no good for your brain when it’s trying to slow down. Trust me, you’ll feel the difference.

  • Silk Pillowcase: Silk pillowcases are not just a luxury—your skin and hair will thank you. They’re gentle on your face and help reduce friction while you sleep.

  • Ocean Waves or Rain Sounds: Ambient sounds like ocean waves or rain can help your mind settle and provide a soothing background to fall asleep to. Try playing it on your speaker or headphones—it’s like bringing nature into your room.

I hope this week’s insights have sparked something for you—whether it’s a better night’s sleep, a new approach to balancing life and business, or just a reminder that burnout doesn’t have to win. We’re all navigating the chaos together, and I’m here to share what I’ve learned (and what I’m still figuring out).

Remember, it’s not about getting everything perfect; it’s about finding what works for you. So take a small step this week, whether it’s trying one new thing from the hot list or just setting aside a moment to breathe. You’ve got this.
